Abstract
The research paper reports a new approach for the voltammetric determination of the synthetic food dye Sunset Yellow (E 110) by its electrochemical reduction on working electrodes based on silver solid amalgam with polished and mercury meniscus-modified surfaces. The repeatability of the analytical signal was studied, and the optimal conditions for electrochemical reduction were selected using linear sweep voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) with adsorptive accumulation of the dye on the surface of the working electrode. Based on these studies, methods for determining E 110 were developed, they are characterised by a wide linearity range, the lowest value of LOD = 0.46 μM was achieved on m-AgSAE using DPV method. The methods are simple and affordable, do not require multi-stage and time-consuming sample preparation. They have been tested in the analysis of real samples (low-alcohol and non-alcoholic carbonated beverages, candy and medicines) purchased in Ukraine. The accuracy of the results was confirmed by an independent extraction-photometric method.
