THE COLOR SCALES CONSTRACTION FOR VISUAL COLORIMETRY. REPRESENTATION OF ANALYSIS RESULTS

For seven test systems on the basis of three sorbents – polyurethane foam, indicator paper, gelatin film – color scales is prepared with a different coefficients of geometric progression (q=1,5, q=2, q=3 и q≈1,618). Two approaches of color scales quality estimation: colorimetry and observation statistics it is analysed. It is established that the criterion of visual distinguishing of color ΔE*≥10 is not universal for the modified polyurethane and reagent indicator paper. This criterion can not be applied to transparent colored gelatin films. When choosing the best color scheme for visual colorimetry the preference should be given to the visual method. It is shown that the accuracy of test results is directly related to the color scale used. The statistics of interval data is proposed for presentation of the results of test analysis. It is also recommended to indicate the number of parallel determinations and confidence interval (interval variability of the results).
