Spectrophotometric determination of bromate with N,N,diethylaniline

New spectrophotometric method of bromate(V) determination was proposed. The method is based on the measurement of absorbance at 226.5 nm of product of reaction between bromate and N,N,diethylaniline in the presence of ÊÂr in the sulfuric acid media. The range of bromate determination was 0.4–50 mg L,1 (sr ≤ 0.07, n = 10).The detection limit (blank + 3σ) for bromate is 0.18 mg L,1 where σ is the standard deviation of blank estimation. The accuracy of the developed spectrophotometric method was examined by the determination of standard addition of bromate in synthetic samples. The relative error did not exceed 10%. The effect of interfering ions on the determination is described. Method is expressive and simple in execution.
