1-(4-adamantyl-2-thiasolylazo)-2-naphthol immobilized on silica surface in copper speciation analysis in natural water

 The sorption of 1-(4-adamantyl- 2-thiasolylazo)-2-naphthol (ATAN) onto silica gel surface and analytical properties of obtained solid phase reagent are investigated. The sorption-spectrophotometric technique for the determination of Cu(II) in natural waters is proposed. The limit of detection of copper is 2.0 μg/L. The activity of various copper forms in reaction with immobilized ATAN is investigated on model solutions with EDTA and humic acids. For this purpose the results of Cu(II) determination obtained by proposed technique, chemiluminescent and stripping voltammetry methods as well calculating data about ratio of different copper species in model solutions are compared. It is established, that aqua- and monohydroxocomplexes of Cu(II) are most active forms in heterophase reaction.
